Kappa Puttu (Tapioca puttu)...This is made with dry tapioca powder and rice flour in equal ratio or you can increase or decrease the amount of tapioca powder taken,,,all as per choice... Since I am staying in Chennai never seen tapioca powder available in shops...This time when I went to Kerala we went for an exhibition during Onam time and came across tapioca powder in packets...It is a long time since I had this delicious dish...I got the powder and made different dishes..Puttu is one of them...rest coming soon..It was worth the effort...you get soft puttu when you combine both these flours.

Ingredients

Instructions
  1. Mix the rice flour and tapioca powder.
  2. Add salt to water, stir well and add to flour mixture slowly, and mix to be sure that you get the correct consistency.
  3. The dough should not be sticky, just a crumbled consistency.
  4. Boil water in a steamer or in a pressure cooker.
  5. Fill the purttu column with the wet flour. First we should add a tablespoon of grated coconut, then a handful of wet flour, again the coconut and flour until the column is full. Finish this with the last layer of coconut.
  6. Keep this on the pressure cooker and wait for the steam to pass through the column and out.
  7. Steam for 10 minutes to get soft puttu.
  8. When done remove from the stove and serve hot with veg or non-veg dish.
  9. We had it with egg masala curry.
  10. Black chana masala curry is another combination.
