The authentic cycad powder dumplings ( eenthu podi dumlings).. A very nostalgic dish..and very tasty when you mix with fish , chicken or mutton...with fish it tastes heavenly...Still lingering in my mouth the old taste...Here in Chennai it is not available..in fact even in some parts of Kerala nobody knows about this edible tree...We had a tree at home and I still remember mom making powder of the seeds by drying in the sun and grinding.. Then dry roasting the powder to remove dampness and then making the dumplings like rice dumplings...It is an elaborate process..now nobody has the time or inclination for this..and you get ready made powder..just buy and make...that easy..

Instructions
For the dumplings,
  1. Boil water with salt and add to the cycad powder and mix well. Add just enough water, not too much or it becomes difficult to make dumplings
  2. Knead the dough well until soft, make into dumplings.
  3. Boil water in a pan, add the dumplings and keep on boiling until the dumplings rise to the top. now it is cooked , and strain the water from the dumplings and keep aside.
For the Prawns Masala
  1. Wash the prawns and marinate in turmeric powder and salt and keep aside.
  2. Heat coconut oil in a kadai, add the fenugreek seeds and fennel seeds, saute until aromatic, now add the grated coconut, shallots and some curry leaves.
  3. Keep on frying until coconut is golden brown evenly. Now add the chili powder and coriander powder, saute until raw smell disappears. remove from the flame and grind into fine paste when cold.
  4. Heat coconut oil in a kadai, add the green chili, ginger and saute until cooked, now add the cut tomato and saute until tomato is cooked.
  5. To this add the ground masala, add some more water and boil until green chili is cooked.
  6. Now to this add the marinated prawns, kokkum one piece and check for salt and once starts boiling cook in low flame until oil floats on top.
  7. This curry should be thick not flowing type.
  8. To this add the dumplings which we have cooked already, mix to combine.
  9. Check for salt nd cook in low flame to infuse the masala flavor to the dumplings for 3 to 4 minutes.
  10. Delicious otherworldly dish is ready to eat. Enjoy the dish..You are going to fall in love with this..
