Dahi Oats

Now that the summer is here already, we go for something cold to cool our system… Our first option is always curd rice an all time favourite…Nowadays people are in search of innovative ideas to make a dish and they come up with umpteen ways of making a certain dish…Oats reduces weight and lower cholesterol…Usually we have it as porridge…Curd oats is another tasty variation with health benefits..This is the comfort food… you do not feel heavy at all…


  1. Oats (rolled) 1  cup
  2. Water 1 cup
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Grated carrot 1/2 cup
  5. Big onion 1 small
  6. Coriander leaves 2 sprigs
  7. Green chill 1
  8. Ginger grated 1/2 teaspoon.
  9. Curd 1 cup

For Seasoning:

  1. Oil 1 teaspoon
  2. Dry Red chilli 3 number
  3. Mustard 1 teaspoon
  4. Urad dal 1 teaspoon
  5. Asafoetida powder 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Curry leaves 1 sprig


Boil water, pour over the oats and keep aside for 30 minutes.

Now add salt and curd to make a thick porridge like consistency.

Add the grated carrot, green chilli finely cut, grated ginger onion and mix well.

Heat oil, add the mustard and urad dal.

When mustard crackles add the red chilli and curry leaves and hing and pour over the oat dahi mixture, mix and serve when warm.

A good recipe to fight heat and weight.
